City council members say there's no money for new books for libraries or a new Jacksonville Landing. Right now, they are slashing items proposed in Mayor Brown's budget. They're also saying "no" to the mayor's idea of borrowing 240 million dollars from a city reserve fund.
VIDEO: After much back and forth, the signs for Nathan B. Forrest High School are coming down. The official vote to change the name of the school to Westside High School was finalized in December and by July 1st they expect to be done with all name changes.
Leaders from the Pentagon and Congressman Ander Crenshaw visited Mayport where they met with owners of repair businesses. They say the industry is showing signs of growth after military budget cuts in Washington hurt business for the last few years.
VIDEO: Retired military may see their benefits reduced after the first of the year if congress agrees to the budget deal that wont be decided until after the new year. If it does go through retired officers will not be affected.
VIDEO: Major cuts by Jacksonville Fire and Rescue have been eliminated. The city council's finance committee voted to restore money to the department's budget and prevent several fire stations from closing.
