Clay County School Board - District 4

School board races in Districts 3 and 4 weren't settled in the primary and will appear on the General Election ballot countywide.  Scroll down to read about the two candidates in the District 4 race.

OCCUPATION:  School Board member; retired corporate executive
EDUCATION:  B.A. Siena College; graduated school University of Illinois; advance managment program, General Electric Co.; officer's artillery/missile school, U.S. Army
POLITICAL EXPERIENCE:  Elected School Board - Ridgefield, Conn./Clay County, Fla.; governors' appointments to educational committees, Connecticut/New York; chairman, Center of the Book.

WHAT DO YOU SEE AS THE TOP THREE ISSUES IN THIS RACE?

  1. "Successful implementation of the Student Success Act.
  2. "Maintaining/improving District performance in a fiscally challenging environment.
  3. "Addressing classroom discipline issues and excessive reporting requirements as they distract from the classroom teachers' abilities to deliver effective and meaningful education experiences to the class."

HOW CAN YOU HELP VOTERS IN A WAY THAT OTHERS RUNNING FOR THIS OFFICE CANNOT?

  • "Deep understanding of the issues, challenges and problems coupled with a practiced ability to develop meaningful solutions.  Knowledge of how the system works; the key players and 'best practices' permits VERY effective advocacy at the local, regional and State levels.

    "With a substantial background in both the corporate and educational arenas, I bring business discipline and fiscal conservatism to public education.... With demonstrated leadership, I can apply sound business practices to the challenge of providing a meaningful educational experience for every student, while making effective and efficient use of the taxpayers' dollars."

OCCUPATION:  Business leader, operations manager for GE Aviation, Jacksonville
EDUCATION:  High school graduate, military education and training, some college (professional aeronautics at Embry-Riddle University and business administration at Liberty University)
POLITICAL EXPERIENCE:  No prior political experience

  1. "Preserving community values and protecting Constitutional liberties.
  2. "Advancing academic excellence with policies that support innovation, engagement and empowerment, while addressing revisionist History and American Exceptionalism in textbooks.
  3. "Restoring Public confidence and trust in the School Board."

  • "Unlike others running for this office, I bring a new generation of leadership and fresh perspective that focuses on today's latest technology advances and Team-based Leadership model.  In order for our students to be prepared to enter a 21st Century Global workforce, we must have board members who have experience in and understand the challenges of the 21st century global workforce.  As a mother and a US Military Veteran I bring a combination of compassion and courage to provide the right balance of discipline and understanding necessary for School Board service to our growing community."
