According to the Mayo Clinic, a kidney infection starts in your bladder and eventually travels up your body and into your kidney.

If not treated, kidney infections can become life-threatening. When diagnosed with a kidney infection, an individual will typically be given medication and admitted into a hospital.

According to the Mayo Clinic, here are some common symptoms:

  • Fever
  • Back or groin pain
  • Abdominal pain
  • Frequent urination
  • Burning sensation when urinating
  • Blood in your urine

If you feel you may have a kidney infection, contact a medical professional immediately.
