When closing your pool for the season there are certain steps to take to ensure your pool with stay safe over the winter months and be ready to use again next summer.

One step to take when closing your pool is to ensure it has a proper water level. The proper water level depends on your pool and equipment.

If you have tile in your pool at the water level then you will need to drain the water so it is below the tile. This will prevent the tile from cracking when the surface water freezes.

If you do not blow out the pipes or use a gizzmo before closing down the pool then you will need to drain the water past the skimmer.

In most cases you will not need to drain your pool at all. In fact, it is said to be better for your pool cover to keep the water level high. The lower the water level, the more stress is put on the pool cover.
