Festival of Trees at World Golf Village

The St. Johns County Festival of Trees returns to the World Golf Village for its seventh year this holiday season. The event will feature more than 50 trees, wreaths and other holiday items decorated by companies, organizations, churches, families and friends from the local community throughout the St. Johns County Convention Center.

Beginning with the grand opening Dec. 2 at 6 p.m., the event will be free and open to the public through Dec. 11.

Visitors may donate through individuals votes on their favorite trees and wreaths with a minimum $1bids or purchase an entry through the silent auction. All proceeds will benefit two local charities-- the United Way if St. Johns County and the The St. Augustine Record's Empty Stocking Fund.

The Festival of Trees' grand opening is Dec. 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. The evening will feature complimentary activities including visits from Santa and Mrs. Claus, kids' cookie decorating, a choir performance, face painting and the offical ribbon cutting. The Festival of Trees is at the St. Johns County Convention Center, located adjacent to the Renaissance World Golf Village Resort, will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the final day, Dec. 11.

In addition to Festival of Trees, Breakfast with Santa will be on Dec. 3 at the World Golf Hall of Fame IMAX Theater. This annual holiday event will feature breakfast bites, a photo opportunity with Mr. and Mrs. Claus and admission to an IMAX film. To celebrate the movie "Happy Feet Two-- An IMAX 3D Experience," two Magellanic penguins from the Jacksonville Zoo & Gardens will be joining the festival in the theater.

For $12 , guests can register for the "Monkey Pack" which includes admission to break and to the 9 a.m. showing of "born to Be Wild 3D." Also available for $16 is the "Penguin Pack" which includes breakfast and admission to the 10 a.m. showing of "Happy Feet-- An IMAX 3D Experience."
