New Jersey Nets player Kris Humphries has put a diamond ring on the finger of Kim Kardashian, and the couple are now engaged, the reality TV star's rep confirms to CNN.
According to People magazine, the surprise proposal went down on May 18 at Kardashian's Beverly Hills home. Humphries, 26, waited for the reality TV star in her bedroom, down on bended knee, with the words "will you marry me" spelled out in red rose petals.
Kardashian, who has been dating the athlete for six months, says the question caught her off guard."
I didn't expect this at all," the 30-year-old told People. "I was in such shock. I never thought it would happen at home, and I never thought now," she said.
With the help of Kardashian's mom, Kris Jenner, Humphries planned an intimate celebration for the engagement. Although he wasn't aiming for a huge gathering, the basketball star did know he wanted one thing to be over-the-top: the ring. He told People of the 20.5-carat sparkler, "I just knew I wanted it to be big."
