Celebrate the 4th across the First Coast

The downtown Jacksonville Independence Day celebration isn't limited to the 9:45 p.m. Fireworks Spectacular over the St. Johns River. The Shipyards on Bay Street cranks up at 5 p.m. with crafts, face painting, caricature artists, life entertainment and BBQ.
For those over 21 or accompanied by an adult, you can also watch the fireworks from The Jacksonville Landing. Live music and drink specials begin a 8 p.m. and continue until 1 a.m.
Also downtown, there will fireworks after the Jacksonville Suns game. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m.
For those heading to downtown venues, the JTA Skyway service run until midnight. The city has already started closing roads downtown Friday morning.
Hogan Street from Water Street to the St. Johns River is closed, along with Coastline Drive from The Landing to Newnan Street. Those roads will remain closed until 2 a.m. Saturday.
The Main Street and Acosta bridges will be closed during the fireworks show and will reopen right after. The Fuller Warren Bridge will be open during the show.
Note: The fireworks will be shown as part of WJXT's Firework's Spectacular broadcast, 8-10 p.m. on Channel 4.
For the Jacksonville Beach fireworks show roads will begin closing after 5 p.m. After the fireworks, SR A1A will have turning lanes blocked and Beach Boulevard will have limitations at various intersections, so follow the traffic officer's directions or any detour signs.
At the beaches, traffic will be routed to the main roadways leading west: JTB, Beach and Atlantic boulevards. The Wonderwood Expressway in Mayport will also be open.
