Event to help those facing end of ACA grace period

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Those given 15 extra days to complete their Affordable Care Act applications face a Monday deadline.

Those who had started to enroll prior to the March 31 deadline but were unable to complete it in time were given until April 15 to finish the process.  The next enrollment period begins in November.

Get Covered America will hold one more event to help people complete the process. Health care navigators will be available from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Legends Center at 5054 Soutel Drive.  Click for information about eligibility for the grace period.

Americans who don't have insurance this year will face a penalty of $95, or 1 percent of income, whichever is greater, on their 2014 taxes due early next year.

The administration says more than 7.1 million people had enrolled by the original deadline.
