Health department campaign in Duval County offers walk-in services

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Florida Department of Health in Duval County has launched a campaign to assist families with preparing for the upcoming school year by getting a head start on required immunizations and physicals.

DOH-Duval encourages parents and guardians to check the immunization status and school requirements for their children before the back-to-school rush.

The campaign, called "Go to the Head of the Class: Back-to-School Immunizations and Physicals," offers walk-in services for required school immunizations and physicals at the DOH-Duval Immunizations Center at 5220 North Pearl St.

"We encourage everyone to update their child's immunizations and physicals early, and not wait for the school rush," DOH-Duval Director Dr. Kelli Wells said in a news release. "There is no time like the present."

School physicals are available Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m.-3 p.m., beginning July 8, and cost $30 per exam. The services run through Aug. 21 and do not include sports physicals.

Walk-in services for required school immunizations are available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. On the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month, services are available from 8 a.m.-noon.

Current DOH-Duval clients can call 904-253-1130 to schedule an appointment. For more information about back-to-school immunizations and physicals call 904-253-1420.
