Wendy's testing antibiotic-free chicken

Wendy's changing its chicken products

This week Wendy's is testing antibiotic-free chicken chicken in four U.S. markets.

Orlando, Gainesville, Kansas City and Austin will sell grilled chicken raised without any anitbiotics to see how customers respond.

The test follows several other initiatives in the fast food and the broader food industry to cut down on the use of antibiotics. Earlier this year, McDonald's announced it would stop using antibiotics important to human medicine in chicken by March 2017. Just last year, Chick-fil-A said it was working with suppliers to remove all antibiotics from its chicken products by 2019.

The push for antibiotic-free meat comes as more and more food companies move toward more healthy, natural products including Chipotle's recent campaign to remove all GMO's from its food.
