Jaguars host job fair at Everbank Field

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Just a few months before the start of the football season, the Jaguars are filling their roster. Not just for players, but the people who work behind the scenes to make the games good experiences.

Applicants with all sorts of backgrounds came out to a job fair Sunday morning. Anthony Sirmans just graduated from high school on Friday and is looking for his first job.

"It's just a start. Just trying to get a feel of a job see what it's like." he said.

Will Hanzel, with SMG, helped put together the job fair. He says several different vendors that work with the Jags are looking to hire outgoing, friendly team members.

"We want to make sure our guests feel like guests when they come to our events and they have a good time when they are here," Hanzel said.

Some the people got the chance to interview on the spot, others, who submitted their applications early were told the good news today. They got the job.

"I like the fans, I like the team. New owner, new players so it just made sense to work here," said April Grace, a new hire.

"I like the people oriented atmosphere and I'm just looking forward to guest services," Connor Perez said.

The people we spoke to say in a tough economy, job fairs like this one, although mostly offering only part time work, are a big help to the community, and a start to bright futures.

"Then you get the word you're hired and you're like 'Woah, I work in the NFL!'"

If you missed out on the job fair Sunday, the good news is that it will also be going on Monday.  It runs from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at EverBank Field.
