An 80-year-old Catholic priest in Australia is accused of biting another priest's ear off over a parking spot.

The Rev. Thomas Henry Byrne was charged late last week with grievous bodily harm over the incident involving his neighbor, 81-year-old the Rev. Thomas Joseph Cameron Smith, Perth Now reported.

According to authorities, the two got into a scuffle after Smith refused to give up his parking space.

Following a brief struggle, Byrne told Smith to pick an item up off the ground, The Daily Mail reported.

The "item" was Smith's ear, which he wrapped in a towel and took to a local hospital. He was taken into surgery, while police took Byrne into custody.

Byrne had a black eye when he appeared in court Friday, The Independent reported.
