Some air travelers experienced a flight delay over the holidays, but it wasn't due to bad weather.

WJW Fox 8 News reports that United Airlines passengers were told before they boarded a plane heading from Phoenix to Cleveland that the flight would be delayed for several hours. The passengers eventually learned that a dirty diaper had been flushed down the toilet, rendering the bathroom unusable and the plane would not be able to take off as scheduled. After a reported 6-hour wait, the delayed flight was cancelled because of the blockage.

A spokesperson for United stated that a diaper was flushed, backing up the toilets and delaying the flight, which was eventually cancelled. Most passengers were placed on alternate flights and some were booked into hotel rooms and flew out the next morning. The spokesperson said this kind of problem is not a common occurrence.
