A California woman who says she was held against her will after disappearing from her home when she was 15 has come forward and contacted police, The Associated Press reported.

Her alleged captor, Isidro Garcia, 41, was arrested by the Santa Ana Police Department on suspicion of kidnapping for rape, lewd acts with a minor and false imprisonment.

The two were dating in 2004, police told the wire service. But after Garcia assaulted her mother, he drugged the girl and locked her in a garage, police said.

The AP said he used physical and emotional abuse to keep her from running.

She went to police after finding her sister on Facebook, the AP reported.
