Crane Avenue suspicious death
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

One 36-year-old man was found dead and another man was taken to Memorial Hospital after a shooting at the Villas At The Woodlands apartment complex.

The complex is located on Crane Avenue in the Glynlea area, which is not far from Atlantic Boulevard and Arlington Road.

Several people heard gunshots and called 911 around 4 a.m. Thursday.  When police with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office arrived, they found casings on the ground.

Officers discovered Royal Jerome Jackson dead outside an apartment, near the parking lot. Around the same time, they received a call that another man arrived at Memorial Hospital with a gunshot wound. That person was in stable condition.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office was investigating whether anyone else was involved in the shooting or if these two men were the only ones involved.

If you have any information, call Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
