1 dead in accident on State Road 16

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -

A 65-year-old man was killed Saturday morning after a crash on State Road 16.

According to reports, Marie Wood Dean, 44, was traveling east down SR 16 in her 1996 Mercury Cougar with her 10-year-old son in the passenger's seat when she attempted to make a left turn.

Joseph Yakaboski, 65, was traveling west on SR 16 in his 2001 Toyota Tacoma when Dean made the turn. Dean struck the driver's side of Yakaboski's vehicle, causing it to overturn several times.

Yakaboski was ejected from his vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene by St. Johns County Fire Rescue.

Police said Dean and her son were not injured in the accident.
