A truck driver sustained life-threatening injuries in a crash involving his tractor-trailer and a car in the northbound lanes of I-95 near Old St. Augustine Road early Friday morning.

Troopers said Jensen Pugh, 20, was driving north about 2:40 a.m. when her Honda Civic clipped the semi after she swerved into the lane the truck was pulling into, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The Freightliner cab and its trailer overturned on its side, just off the roadway. The driver, Stephen Anderson, 54, was transported to UF Health Jacksonville with life-threatening injuries.

Troopers said Pugh suffered minor injuries but was not hospitalized. Troopers said charges are pending against Pugh.

An FHP traffic homicide unit responded to the scene to investigate for what, FHP describes as, "due diligence."

One lane of I-95 northbound at Old St. Augustine Road was closed for a couple hours while FHP investigated the crash. Several wreckers arrived on the scene just before 7 a.m. to right the truck and workers tried to salvage cargo in the trailer was carrying.
