The intersection of Union and Main streets was closed for about an hour before dawn Thursday after two cars collided, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Around 5:24 a.m., two cars collided in the eastbound lanes of Union Street at Main Street, trapping one driver, according to police.

Jacksonville Fire-Rescue also responded to the crash to help safely get the driver out of the car.

JFRD treated the victim in the ambulance before transporting the person to Shands Jacksonville Medical Center.

At the time of the accident, all three eastbound lanes of Union Street were blocked. All lanes have since opened.
