JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting in the Arlington area after a 10-year-old girl was shot on Rogero Road on Monday night.

Around 8:15 p.m. police received a phone call in reference to a gunshot victim being transported to Memorial Hospital.

Police said Ravyn Johnson suffered a gunshot wound to her legs.

They said Johnson's mother heard a pop and went outside to investigate. She saw her daughter lying on the ground a few houses away from theirs in the 2300 block of Rogero Road, police said.

Johnson's mother ran to her and saw she was hurt, then after trying to call 911 without success, she took her daughter to the hospital.

The girl was later transferred to UF Health Jacksonville and was said to be in stable condition.

Police conducted the investigation at the home.

"I have detectives interviewing people at the hospital as well as on the street to try to find out if there is any possible suspect information suspect vehicles and evidence," Sgt. Bobby Lyle said.
