A 14-year-old arrested last month in connection with riding in a stolen SUV that crashed has been arrested again, accused of stealing another car last Friday and crashing it, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office.

David Adams is charged with grand theft of a motor vehicle.

During the preliminary investigation of the traffic crash, it was determined the driver of the 1998 Toyota Corolla fled the scene, deputies said.

The Florida Highway Patrol responded to investigate the factors that caused the crash.

The vehicle was reported stolen Friday morning from the Spot Cafe on State Road 16. At the time of the crash, the driver fled on foot, deputies said.

Witnesses and evidence linked Adams, of St. Augustine, as the driver of the vehicle, deputies said, his second arrest within two weeks in connection with vehicle theft. A 12-year-old was also arrested in the first vehicle theft.
