Jacksonville are questioning a babysitter after a baby was hospitalized in critical condition Wednesday. Police said the man was watching four children younger than 5 years old, including the 11-month-old baby boy.
The baby was injured Wednesday morning at Ribault Bay Village Navy Family Housing in the 1000 block of Bunker Hill Court in Mayport.
Police said the man called 911 about 11:30 a.m. because the baby was unresponsive and not breathing. The boy was taken to Shands Jacksonville Medical Center in life-threatening condition because of brain swelling.
Police said the baby's condition was improving, and he was expected to live. The Department of Children and Families was also expected to begin an investigation.
