Some may call it a baby shower on wheels. On Wednesday, some local military moms-to-be received a special treat just in time for the holidays.
It marked the third year for the Military Mom Diaper Dash, an event helping 60 local expecting military moms stock up on all the essential items for babies, such as diapers, baby food and formulas.
As all the expecting moms went dashing around town collecting their gifts, they also received giveaways and child and car safety demonstrations.
Moms say they are thankful to get all the supplies to help them get started.
"It benefits us a lot because, like I said, it helps us get started with a bunch of stuff that is a probably a fraction of what we need, you know, in the next few months and getting ready for the baby," said Sweethelda Castro.
The United Service Organizations Inc., Chevrolet and Winn-Dixie helped put on the event. The dash will continue from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at Naval Air Station Jacksonville.
