Police were called to a report of gunfire at Tyler and Windle streets just before 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Officers say five people were shot -- three taken to the hospital by rescue personnel and two driven to the emergency room in private vehicles.
The shootings took place in front of a storefront in a neighborhood that residents say is not accustomed to shootings. The names of those shot was not released Wednesday night.
While police said at the scene they did not get any suspect information from witnesses at the scene, Channel 4 crime analyst Ken Jefferson said sometimes the best information comes later.
"There are those who want to talk, cooperate," Jefferson said. "They just won't do it in the presence of everyone else on the street. They're not going to do that. They're street savvy."
Anyone with information about the shootings is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS. Callers can remain anonymous and could collect a $1,000 reward.
