It was an early Christmas gift for more than 300 Mayport families Wednesday when the USS Hue City returned from a six-month deployment.
Families wait to see loved ones, and little ones could not resist and running up and giving their dads or moms a hug.
Thirteen sailors were welcomed home by their newborn children.
The first off the ship was Santa Claus, with a bag of gifts for the children waiting for dad or mom.
For some sailors like Meagan Bramble, it was a first deployment. "It was nerve-racking at first, but it was not so bad," Bramble said.
Now with the welcome home kisses and hugs, these families are ready for the holidays, knowing their love ones are safe.
