A 17-year-old is facing reckless driving charges after crashing into a pond.

The St. Johns County Sheriff's Department says a patrol car noticed a black Cadillac driving more than 100 miles per hour on Nocatee Parkway Saturday evening. The officer issued a "be on the lookout" for the car.

The sheriff's office says the car made a sharp left turn into the Saw Mill Lakes Subdivision after crossing the Palm Valley Bridge. The driver took the turn too fast, destroyed some bushes and crashed into a pond.

Both the driver and passenger are 17-years old and were released. The sheriff's office isn't releasing names. The driver faces reckless driving charges, which is a criminal traffic ticket.
