The event was held by Ripley's Believe It or Not! in St. Augustine, they had hoped to break a world record with the most wedding renewals at one time.
Many of the renewed brides wore their old wedding dresses. Some even purchased new dresses for the event.
The mass vow renewal fell short of the record. The couples say their love is something to be celebrated, even if it won’t go down in the history books.
"The record is currently held by the University of Miami and it's 1087 couples,” said Kim Kiff, the general manager of Ripley Attractions. More than 500 couples showed up Sunday to renew their vows.
"It's just nice to do it again. We had such a blast the first time,” said Samantha Sparks, who said “I do” all over again with hubby Adam Sparks.
Couples had a ceremony where they said their vows again, received wedding cake and were offered a trolley ride around St. Augustine.
The couples told Channel 4 their feelings are just as strong as when they first kissed as man and wife.
Many of the couples say they plan to return year after year to renew their vows.
