The east side of Columbia County, along Baya Avenue and State Road 100 sustained damage from storms moving through Saturday afternoon. Several houses have been damaged by falling trees and power lines are down, according to the Sheriff's Office.
The National Weather Service did not indicate a tornado touched down, so the damage is most likely from straight-line winds.
Columbia County public safety crews are on scene and deputies urge people to use caution in the area as more severe weather is expected.
The Columbia County Emergency Operations Center is under a partial activation, according to Sgt. Ed Seifert of the Columbia County Sheriff's Office.
Several trees were reported down near Lake City, some causing property damage.
