ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -

Two people, including a teenager, died Sunday night after their car ran off Interstate 95 in St. Augustine, crashing into a tree.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, 45-year-old James Guthrie was driving a Dodge Avenger on I-95 southbound near mile marker 317 in St. Johns County.

FHP said Guthrie was going at a high rate of speed, passing slower moving vehicles, when he made an abrupt lane change.

Guthrie lost control and the car traveled onto the wet shoulder, made a 360 degree spin and struck a tree.

Guthrie died at the scene of the accident. 16-year-old passenger Anthony Guthrie was transported to Shands Medical Center, then Flagler Hospital where he died.

Passengers 15-year-old Autumn Guthrie and 32-year-old Charles Parliament suffered moderate injuries.

All four people in the car were wearing seat belts.

FHP said it is suspected that alcohol was related to this case and that it remains open pending further investigation.
