South Metro Shooting
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

Two men were taken to local hospitals with gunshot wounds and several witnesses were questioned by police following a hail of gunfire in South Metro Sunday.

Lt. Jimmy Judge with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said several emergency calls regarding gunshots were answered around 2:38 p.m. Callers told police shots were fired on Taylor Street at the 3500 block of Emerson Street.

Judge said officers arrived in less than a minute and found a Ford pickup truck that had plowed into a fence next to a gas station.

Officers searched the area and found 33-year-old Phillip Anderson and 28-year-old Jeremiah Levy with gunshot wounds. Judge said Anderson was taken to Shands Jacksonville Medical Center in serious condition, while Levy was taken to Baptist Medical Center in serious condition, but was later airlifted to Shands.

Investigators said the truck had several bullet holes in it, and witnesses said men inside the truck were also firing shots.

It is not clear what led up to the shooting. No bystanders in the area were hurt.
