ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -

Two suspects have been identified and three others are being sought for questioning in connection with a beating that occurred at a Hastings home Sunday evening, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies responded to a report of a disturbance in front of the home in the 200 block of Chase Street just before 8 p.m.

Witnesses told deputies five men approached a 20-year old Hastings man and attacked him. One of the men tried to strangle the victim and another brandished a handgun, deputies said.

They said the five men were last seen getting into a silver Dodge Caliber and fleeing the scene. The victim sustained minor injuries.

Detectives are trying to identify the other three men believed to be from Putnam County.

Anyone with any information concerning this investigation is asked to call Detective Matthew Bellamy at the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office at 904-209-1635 or Crime Stoppers at 888-277-TIPS (8477).
