2 killed in crash on Interstate 295

Troopers say car hit pole, flipped, then caught fire

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – State troopers have identified the two people who were killed in a crash on Interstate 295 Sunday afternoon.

The incident happened around 4:45 p.m. on the entrance ramp to I-295 from UNF Drive on the Southside.

Troopers said a Nissan Maxima went off the on-ramp, hit a pole, flipped and then caught fire.

The two people inside were trapped after it flipped and died on the scene.

The two have been identified as 37-year-old Christopher Lewis and 39-year-old Brian Pattishall, both of Jacksonville.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating what caused the crash and say speed could be a factor.
