2 men steal master key from South Fla. postal worker

$15,000 reward offered for information leading to arrest

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. – The U.S. Postal Inspection Service is offering a $15,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of two men who robbed a postal worker Thursday in South Florida.

Police said one of the two black men, who appeared to be in their early 20s, grabbed the woman from behind while the other stole her master key and vehicle key.

"They put me in a choke hold and threw me to the ground, then grabbed my keys and ran off," said the victim, who did not want to be identified.

Police said the letter carrier was not injured.

WPLG-TV reports postal inspectors passed out flyers Friday morning in the ares of 1015 NE 127th Street to warn residents to keep a close eye on their mail and their credit reports. Investigators believe the crooks want to use the master key to get people's mail so they can steal their identity.

"They'll steal your information," said U.S. Postal Service Inspector Ivan Ramirez. "They'll apply online for credit cards, look up banking information and they'll have that information mailed to an address where they can pretty much have control over it."

The postal worker said her neck is still sore from the attack, but she plans to go back to work eventually, according to WPLG-TV.

Anyone with information is asked to call Postal Inspector Luis Soler at 877-876-2455 (select option 2).
