Graduation
WINTER HAVEN, Fla. -

Two high school seniors graduated after fighting the odds to get there.  Students Avilmarie Rodriguez and Jonathan Omar Velazquez Diaz graduated Tuesday from Winter Haven High School.

The audience greeted the two seniors with a standing ovations.

Rodriguez found out she had a brain tumor a month before.  The Ledger of Lakeland reports she was planning to attend the University of Miami.  She recently found out the tumor was benign, but doctors say she may need time to recuperate.

Diaz was involved in a serious car crash almost a month ago causing a punctured lung and leaving cuts all over his body.  He spent three weeks in the hospital causing him to miss out on prom and his JROTC ceremony.  In July he plans to start culinary school.
