A deputy was parked in front of the home on Riverina Drive about 11 a.m. Monday completing his report on the attempted burglary when he saw a white 2006 X5 BMW SUV occupied by two people drive past the home. The vehicle was similar to the one the homeowner reported seeing outside her home moments before the attempted burglary on Arrowhead Drive.

In that case, the owner reported that sometime after 11 p.m. Sunday someone broke into a vehicle that had been parked in his driveway and stole a remote that was used to enter the garage where the BMW was parked. The home at the time of the burglary was occupied.

The deputy, thinking it may have been the same vehicle, pulled out to follow the SUV and it began to speed up in an attempt to flee.

Deputies responding to the area saw the SUV as it drove into the area of Wood Aspen Lane off U.S. 1. Deputies established a perimeter, called in a sheriff's K-9 and asked for assistance from Volusia County Sheriff's Office Air One.

A deputy patrolling in the area located the unoccupied stolen vehicle parked on Wood Amber Lane. Deputies later saw the two suspects near a wooded area as they were trying to return to the area where they had left the stolen vehicle.

The teens were taken into custody following a short foot pursuit.

The juvenile is charged with burglary of a conveyance, burglary of an occupied dwelling, grand theft, attempted burglary of an occupied dwelling, fleeing and eluding and resisting arrest without violence. He was taken to the Division of Youth Services in Daytona Beach.

Nash is charged with burglary of a conveyance, burglary of an occupied dwelling, attempted burglary of an occupied dwelling and resisting arrest without violence. He was taken to the Flagler County Detention Facility, where he was being held on $17,500 bond.
