26-year-old critically hurt in I-295 crash

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

A 26-year-old Jacksonville man was critically injured in a crash late Friday morning on Interstate 295 at Baymeadows Road.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Robert Mancheno was driving north on I-295 in the right lane at 11:35 a.m. when his SUV struck the rear of a tractor-trailer traveling in front of him.

Mancheno's SUV then traveled to the right and hit the inside guardrail, before overturning back into the roadway.

Mancheno was taken to Orange Park Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. He was wearing a seat belt.

The driver of the semi cab, 54-year-old Norman Wright, was not hurt.

Troopers said charges are pending.
