3 arrested after woman assaulted in St. Augustine

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -

A 36-year-old man and two juveniles were arrested after a woman was knocked to the ground and her purse stolen Christmas night along the St. Augustine bayfront.

The St. Augustine Police Department said officers chased the three on foot after the 9:25 p.m. assault.  Eric Badie and the two boy were arrested on charges of robbery by sudden snatching.

While stolen property was found on one of the juveniles, the boys told police that Badie was the one who actually stole the woman's purse.  Witnesses told officers that one of the juveniles participated in the assault.

Badie was also charged with resisting an officer without violence and two counts of probation violation.

The woman's purse and all its contents except for $50 in cash was found and returned to her at the scene.
