Indiana's recently defeated school superintendent and a Virginia consultant, who once served in the administration of President George W. Bush, are among three finalists to lead Florida's school system.

The third of the finalists announced Tuesday is a Kentucky university president.

The State Board of Education will interview them next week in Tampa.

Tony Bennett is a Republican who lost a bid for re-election in Indiana on Nov. 6.

Charles Hokanson is a consultant in Arlington, Va., who had been a deputy assistant secretary of education in the Bush administration.

Randy Dunn is president of Murray State University. Dunn also is a former state school superintendent in Illinois.
