JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

Three girls are being charged in an off-campus attack of a student from Oceanway Middle School, according to the state attorney's office.

Prosecutors said all three suspects involved in the March attack are students at the school. They said the charges will be prosecuted in juvenile court.

Prosecutors said the charging decision was made after reviewing all of the facts in the case.

They said that at the time of the attack, the extent of the victim's injuries was not known, and a review of the medical records did not show sufficient injuries for the filing of felony charges in this case.

The primary suspect, 14-year-old Paris Cannon, is charged with misdemeanor battery. The girl is accused of hitting 14-year-old Aria Jewett multiple times. The injuries did not cause a skull fracture, which the state attorney's office said has been inaccurately reported.

The decision was made to file a misdemeanor charge of principal in the first degree on two of the suspects, ages 14 and 15, prosecutors said. They said one girl is accused of luring the victim to the fight, and the other is accused of video recording the attack.
