The city is getting ready to tear it down and build a new one starting next month. It has budgeted $15 million for the project, which should be completed by next summer.

In the meantime, one woman has put the city on notice for a lawsuit after she got hurt. She said she tripped on an area of raised wood in June and had to be hospitalized.

"Basically, the boardwalk was in terrible condition," Robert Corirossi, the woman's attorney, said in a phone interview. "It's in deteriorating condition and as she was walking along. She tripped on an area where the wood was raised, causing her to fall down."
