3 rescued from boat

Three people Sunday were rescued from a boat that lost its steering abilities while sailing off Porpoise Point, according to rescue crews.

VILANO BEACH, Fla. -

Three people Sunday were rescued from a boat that lost its steering abilities, according to rescue crews.

It happened 400 too 500 yard off of Porpoise Point in Vilano Beach.

St. Johns County Fire and Rescue said they received call about 10:45 to 11 a.m. for a 14 foot vessel in distress. The call was placed by someone on the beach who spotted the boat, crews said. in distress.

The St. Johns County Fire and Rescue and Florida Fish and Wildlife said they found that the boat had no steering available because of a broken mast.

Crews assisted bringing the boat back to shore. 

No injuries were reported.
