PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. -

There's no place many of us would rather be on a summertime South Florida day than at the beach, but the ocean’s warm water may be too warm.

Health officials say the temperatures in the water make it a perfect breeding ground for vibrio vulnificus, a flesh-eating bacteria that can make you really sick. Symptoms include diarrhea, nausea and blistering skin lesions.

Six Floridians have contracted the bacteria so far this year.

The Florida Department of Health is now advising anyone with an opened wound, liver disease or a compromised immune system to be aware.
