It's becoming an annual tradition for Chicago.

According to Forbes, it's one of America's most miserable cities.

Chicago has been on the top 10 list for the past five years.

Detroit was number one this year.

Forbes looked at the 200 largest metropolitan statistical areas and divisions in the U.S.

It ranked each area on nine factors including average unemployment rate between 2010 and 2012; median commute times to work for 2011 based on U.S. Census data and violent crimes per capita from the FBI's 2011 Uniform Crime Report.

Here's the full list:

1. Detroit
2. Flint, Michigan
3. Rockford, Illinois
4. Chicago
5. Modesto, California
6. Vallejo, California
7. Warren, Michigan
8. Stockton, California
9. Lake County, Illinois
10. New York
