Police are trying to identify the suspect that shot another man at a gas station in Southside Jacksonville. Police say the two men didn't know each other and were arguing over loud music.

A man was shot and killed following an altercation at a Southside gas station Friday, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Homicide detectives responded to the Gate gas station at Southside Boulevard and Baymeadows Road around 8:30 p.m.

Sgt. Michael Paul with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said a man riding in a dark colored sedan got into a confrontation with the occupants of a red SUV over loud music. The man in the sedan fired multiple shots at the SUV.

One man inside the SUV was taken to Shands Jacksonville Medical Center where he later died.

Sgt. Paul said four other occupants in the SUV were juveniles.  They were not injured, but taken into custody for questioning and would be released to their parents.

Paul said police are searching for the gunman.  Anyone with any information about the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS. You can remain anonymous and could receive a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
