Black is back for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The hometown team is now sporting its darker jerseys for home games, all part of a season full of change. So what are vendors going to do with the now-outdated teal jerseys?
"Black is what sold the most last weekend, and it's probably going to be the rest of the year as well," said Justin McCoy, of Sports Mania at the Jacksonville Landing.
McCoy said fans have been flooding the store to be a part of the Jags' newest look. Looking around the store, there is still a lot of teal in sight, especially jerseys. McCoy thinks the store can sell the stock of teal jerseys to fans even though the Jaguars will only wear them for special occasions.
Teal jerseys may be fading out from the team's wardrobe, but that doesn't mean the fans' jerseys will be discounted just yet.
"Right now, they are going to be as is," McCoy said of the prices of teal jerseys. "There is still a lot of people who support teal, there's still a lot of teal at the stadium on Sunday, too, as well. So it's going to be still regular price."
Nike became the official brand of the NFL this year. McCoy says the Jaguars were supposed to be teal all season, then make jersey changes next season, including style and color, but the Jags went ahead and switched to black. They haven't worn black since 2009.
Every five years, the NFL can change its logo and its style, so next year it will go ahead with the style alteration.
Black Jerseys are already in stores, but fans should keep in mind that next season, although the color will remain black, the jersey style will change.
