ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -

One lane of I-95 southbound near mile marker 319 in St. Johns County was closed until around noon Thursday after a tractor-trailer caught fire.

The big rig carrying seven new Volkswagen Jettas had just passed State Road 16 when the driver saw that the right rear brake of the trailer had caught fire.

The driver pulled over onto the shoulder near mile marker 319 and tried to extinguish the fire, but was unsuccessful.

The fire spread to the vehicles on the trailer and all seven of the cars were damaged, with about $140,000 in damage.

The driver was not hurt.

One lane of I-95 southbound just south of the St. Augustine Outlet Mall was closed until around noon Thursday.
