PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -

A fire forced several Ponte Vedra Beach families out of their condominiums early Saturday morning.

St. Johns County Fire-Rescue said the fire happened around 12:30 a.m.  in the Summer House complex on Fairway Park Drive.

Officials say the fire started on the second story of an eight-unit condo building. They said the whole unit had extensive damage.

The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office helped two adults and three children out of a second-floor window.

Firefighters say it took nearly an hour to bring the flames under control.

The Red Cross has put those families affected by the fire into hotels for the night, said officials.

There is currently no word yet on what caused the fire. The state fire marshal is investigating.
