DeLAND, Fla. -

Up to 12 Volusia County middle school students on Thursday consumed marijuana-laced brownies that were taken to school by two boys, deputies said.

The Volusia County Sheriff's Office said the boys, ages 12 and 14, who took the pan of brownies to Southwestern Middle School in DeLand face narcotic-related charges.

Deputies also said one of the boys hid a bag containing less than 20 grams of marijuana on campus.  The bag was later found by a deputy.

One student who consumed a brownie was taken to a hospital for evaluation.

The school contacted all the students' parents, but it's not known how many had their children examined at a health facility.

Volusia deputies said the boys admitted to taking the pot-laced brownies to school.
