FORT WHITE, Fla. -

Two men that Columbia County authorities say ran when deputies responded to a call for a burglary in progress on Tuesday afternoon are in jail charged with grand theft.

Deputies were dispatched to a home off S.W. Weasel Court in Fort White about 4 p.m. when the homeowner reported men had broken into her shed. The victim's security company was able to provide a description of two suspects and their vehicle, a black SUV.

That SUV was still at the scene when deputies arrived, but the two men had fled. After establishing a perimeter, Jimmy Rowan, 47, was arrested when he walked out of the woods. A Sheriff’s Office K9 unit assisted locating Don Wyatt, 51, near the victim’s home.

Both were arrested and charged with burglary, grand theft and possession of burglary tools.
