A 19-year-old man died Saturday after a fight broke out at a bonfire, according to authorities.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

A 19-year-old St. Augustine man died early Saturday after a fight broke out at a bonfire party in Jacksonville, according to police.  A 24-year-old was later arrested on manslaughter charges in connection to the incident.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to a call around 1 a.m. Saturday about an injured person on the 14500 block of Old St. Augustine Road in Batram Park.

Deputies said a witness on the scene told them 19-year-old Ryan Scott Ford of St. Augustine was beaten up and was taken to a hospital by car. Ford died of his injuries.

Homicide detectives said they found a large group of people had attended a bonfire located in the woods, and several fights were reported.

Jail records show 25-year-old Christopher Hoffman was arrested Saturday and held without bail in connection with the case.

Detectives said the investigation is ongoing and urged anyone who witnessed the fight or has any information to call police at (904) 630-0500.
