A disabled woman says her car was stolen Wednesday right outside of the window of her home on Jacksonville's westside, a rip-off that she said really adds to the hardship she's already facing.
In 1992, Jean Stallworth said she was hit by a drunk driver, disabling her.
"I saw my car at 1:30 in the morning before I went to bed, and that was it. It was gone," said Stallworth. "To go from having a house and a bank account and cars just because someone wanted to drink early and drive stupid, they took everything from me, everything."
Ten years later, Stallworth said she was hit again. This time, she said she was hit by a woman who went through a stop sign, talking on her cell phone.
Stallworth said she spends three days a week in doctors' offices, and now that someone has stolen her car, she's not sure how she's going to get to her appointments.
"It means so much to me," said Stallworth. "I just got it out of the shop, $500 worth of work, just got it out. Just got it out, and now it's gone."
Stallworth said she didn't have full insurance coverage and she relies on her disability checks to get by.
"It takes five months to save up $1,000, that's crazy," said Stallworth. "I don't know what to do. I'm about to lose my mind. I can't sleep, I can't eat, I sit up all night long watching his car, because I would die if someone were to steal his car, so I don't sleep."
Stallworth said she's been awake since Wednesday, worrying and trying to figure out who would've of taken her Ford Taurus.
"One day, you gonna have something that means a lot to you, and somebody's going to come and just snatch it out from under you," said Stallworth. "Then, you think about me, what I'm going through."
Stallworth said her 4-door 1997 Ford Taurus is money green colored with a tan-cloth interior. The license plate number reads 147XQF.
